Calling all "moderates"...

I wrote the following in response to so linguini spined moderate who said she basically didn't care one way or the other on the healthcare issue, but said, "From my own point of view: Undecided voters are watching, particularly young ones. There is nothing 'interesting' or 'inspiring' about fits of rage. The 'screaming mobs' are now inextricably associated in the public mind with 'Conservatives'

I have no time for moderates, especially on the healthcare reform issue. I do not look at it (or any issue) from Democrat/Republican point of view. I look at things my government does as either expanding our liberties, as our founding fathers envisioned, or infringing on our liberties, which the government excels at as our founding fathers predicted they would.

I know this: If the government (this one or some future one) takes over healthcare, all pretense of liberty is destroyed. You cannot have freedom and liberty if you depend on the government for your health. They will use "healthcare" as an ever expanding reason to slither their way into your formerly great American life. Their tentacles will reach into your refrigerator and cupboards by telling what you can & cannot eat (too keep healthcare costs down – lower the obesity “crisis”); they will slime their way into bedroom (by telling you how many children you can & cannot have); they will infiltrate your mind by telling what is & isn’t good for you to read, watch or listen to (no mental healthcare coverage for you!)

Our founding fathers warned us of this day and, in fact gave us the perfect verbiage to describe what to do when this happens to us: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

We may not be there yet, but we are getting closer everyday this government exists....

The Absent-Minded Chairman
Charlie Rangel wins the personal lottery.

Earlier this month the Chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee "amended" his 2007 financial disclosure form—to the tune of more than a half-million dollars in previously unreported assets and income. That number may be as high as $780,000, because Congress's ethics rules only require the Members to report their finances within broad ranges. This voyage of personal financial discovery brings Mr. Rangel's net worth for 2007 to somewhere between $1.028 million and $2.495 million, while his previous statement came in at $516,015 and $1.316 million.

When you're a powerful Congressman and working diligently to increase tax rates to pay for President Obama's health-care plan, we suppose it's easy to lose track of one of your checking accounts. That would be the one at the federal credit union with a balance somewhere between $250,001 and maybe as high as $500,000. And when you're crunched for time and pulling together bills to pass in a rush, we guess, too, that you might overlook several other investment accounts, even if some of them are sizable, such as the ones Mr. Rangel missed at JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Oppenheimer and BlackRock.

Oh, and those vacant properties in Glassboro, in southern Jersey? Everybody in Manhattan tries not to think much about New Jersey, so those lots and their as-much-as-$15,000 value must also have slipped down the memory hole. (The New York Post reported yesterday that Mr. Rangel failed to pay property taxes for two of the lots, according to the county clerk's office.

The Chairman probably isn't doing a lot of dining at KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell or Long John Silver's, either, which may explain why he didn't disclose the $1,001 to $15,000 in stock he owns in Yum Brands, the conglomerate that runs those chain restaurants. Compared to his undisclosed portfolio stake in PepsiCo—$15,001 to $50,000—that's practically a rounding error.

All lawmakers amend their financial reports from time to time, though rarely are the errors this extensive. Via email, a Rangel spokesman declined to offer details about how the errors occurred, noting that "Once the Ethics Committee completes its work, then we can answer questions in more detail." He added that Mr. Rangel is now "confident that his records have been subjected to an exhaustive and complete review, and that the amendments accurately reflect his financial interests."

Among other issues, Mr. Rangel is currently under investigation regarding his use of four rent-stabilized apartments at New York City's tony Lenox Terrace and soliciting donations with his official letterhead for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College of New York, which was itself built with a $1.9 million earmark. Yet another part of the probe is his failure to report $75,000 in income from a rental villa at the beachfront Punta Cana Yacht Club, in the Dominican Republic.

Mr. Rangel blamed that last one on the language barrier because he doesn't speak Spanish. We can only imagine what language he speaks with his accountants and tax attorneys.

Yeah, I know how he feels. Unfortunately, I suddenly discovered my net worth has gone the other way. It is roughly half what it was in 2006 when these left leaning liberal knuckle heads took over congress. Instead of being worth between, of say $500,000 - $3,000,000, I'm now worth between $0.00 and $1.5 million. Jackasses!!

No, Obama is not a Facist... OF COURSE, HE IS!!!

I wish I were kidding when I said our President wants to be a Fascist Dictator, but I am beginning to see that I have no choice in the matter. Here are the facts:

1. Obama "bailed out" Wall Street by taking equity stakes in some of the largest financial institutions in the country and then turned them over to his buddies, the unions.
2. Obama took over GM & Chrysler, fired the CEO of GM (where is that authority in the constitution?), gave majority ownership, not to the share holders to whom GM owed, but to the unions, even giving them seats on the board of directors.
3. Obama has appointed a former union member to head the New York Bank of the Federal Reserve.
4. Obama, or at the very least, his supporters, are sending “paid” volunteers (the SEIU thugs) to town hall meetings to “show support for healthcare” and to harass and intimidate citizens showing up wanting answers. Does anyone remember your history? Didn’t Mussolini send his “brown shirts” out to do exactly the same thing, quash resistance to his fascist regime? These are SEIU “purple shirts”.
5. Obama is pushing as hard as he can to assume control of the U.S. healthcare system, which represents not only 16% of GDP, but also represents an avenue into controlling EVERY aspect of our lives all in the name of keeping down healthcare costs. Coke and Pepsi ought to be fighting this right along side Blue Cross Blue Shield!
6. Obama wants to start a federally funded police force saying in Colorado earlier this month, "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Huh? Is that in the constitution? It sounds unbelievable, right? Here it is:


7. Obama wants to take over the energy sector by basically making it too expensive to expand power plants, specifically coal fired plants which supply over 50% of all the electricity in the U.S. Tell me, "How do you grow a country & an economy without more power plants?"


8. And now Obama wants to have the authority to take over the internet! Are you kidding me? When are people going to wake and shut this party down once and for all?

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license. (emphasis mine)

If you aren't quaking in your boots, I don't know how you can consider yourself a liberty loving citizen of the United States of America. This administration is systematically dismantling the foundation of our nation, as we all sit by and watch "So You Thought You Can Dance", "American Idol" and other crazy mind numbing shows.... Who will fight these people?

Remember the words of our own Declaration of Independence:

Are we there yet? I don't know. But, I do know we are a lot closer today than we were on January 20, 2009.....

Why are there not more people like J. Patrick Boyle in this world?

I love it when people who actually know what they are talking about finally get so fed up they fight back! It is about time someone stop the insane degradation of the American food producers. What the American food supply chain accomplishes year after year is nothing short of a miracle given the history of mankind's plights with famine. These companies ought to be lauded for providing nourishment for EVERY American and having so much left over we can literally GIVE IT AWAY to the rest of the world. This TIME article is as despicable as it is predictable from leftist rag run by a bunch of granola crunching Birkenstock & burlap wearing vegans!

I am so proud that FINALLY an executive spoke up! He actually isn't backing down! He's taking it right back at 'em. Why don't we have more people like J. Patrick Boyle running trade organizations and corporations in this world? Read J. Patrick Boyle's response here. It is awesome!

As someone who was worked in and out of the food processing business for over decade I can tell it is nothing truly amazing how much work goes into producing for people safe food as cheaply as it is being provided. You all ought to thank God in heaven you live here in the USA in the 21st century. You are the best fed and healthiest humans in all of human history and you spend less money as a percentage of your income and spend even less time thinking about food than at anytime in all of human history. GET REAL, PEOPLE!

So now we have a Fed Chairman of New York who is a former Union Boss. This is a puzzling and alarming development for several reasons. Union watchers, those concerned with the tyranny of card-check and eliminating the secret ballot, are wondering what kind of signals this is sending. Secondly, the public is going to see this as nothing more than bringing Jimmy Hoffa into the money printing business. Thirdly, they have to circumvent law to get the guy in.


I would like to say this is a total shocker, but nothing this leftist president, Barack Hussein Obama does surprises me anymore. This is INSANE! Unions now own GM & Chrysler and are sitting in control of one of the most powerful monetary positions in the world. BHO is paying them back for electing him and is trying to secure and entrench the socialist leftist policies via political appointments and takeovers like this nation has never seen.

Drop in world temperatures fuels global warming debate

WASHINGTON — Has Earth's fever broken?

Official government measurements show that the world's temperature has cooled a bit since reaching its most recent peak in 1998.

Proposals to combat global warming are "crazy" and will "destroy more than a million good American jobs and increase the average family's annual energy bill by at least $1,500 a year," the Heartland Institute, a conservative research organization based in Chicago, declared in full-page newspaper ads earlier this summer. "High levels of carbon dioxide actually benefit wildlife and human health," the ads asserted.

Of course, they have to throw in the typical talking points...

Many scientists agree, however, that hotter times are ahead. A decade of level or slightly lower temperatures is only a temporary dip to be expected as a result of natural, short-term variations in the enormously complex climate system, they say.

The Obama administration is proposing to scale back a long-standing ban on tracking how people use government Internet sites with "cookies" and other technologies, raising alarms among privacy groups.

Supporters of a change say social networking and similar services, which often take advantage of the tracking technologies, have transformed how people communicate over the Internet, and Obama's aides say those services can make government more transparent and increase public involvement.

Some privacy groups say the proposal amounts to a "massive" and unexplained shift in government policy. In a statement Monday, American Civil Liberties Union spokesman Michael Macleod-Ball said the move could "allow the mass collection of personal information of every user of a federal government website."

Even groups that support updating the policy question whether the administration is seeking changes at the request of private companies, such as online search giant Google, as the industry's economic clout and influence in Washington have grown rapidly.

Two prominent technology policy advocacy groups, the Electronic Privacy Information Center and Electronic Frontier Foundation, cited the terms of a Feb. 19 contract with Google, in which a unnamed federal agency explicitly carved out an exemption from the ban so that the agency could use Google's YouTube video player.

The terms of the contract, negotiated through the General Services Administration, "expressly waives those rules or guidelines as they may apply to Google." The contract was obtained by EPIC through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Can it be? The MSM allowing an Op-Ed to be printed admitting the lefties are wrong, while at the same time admitting SARAH PALIN was right? This must me a dream....

Mrs. Palin correctly criticized the scheme presented in the legislation sponsored by Democratic Reps. Henry A. Waxman of California and Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts. By only citing a report from the left-of-liberal Center for American Progress, Mr. Kerry and Mrs. Boxer naively underestimate the effects the legislation will have on the American economy. Other, more mainstream organizations, such as the Brookings Institution and the Black Chamber of Commerce, disagree.

Waxman-Markey artificially creates competition between cheap, abundant energy and unreliable, expensive renewable forms, compelling utilities to use heavily subsidized, politically correct "renewable energy" while thousands who work producing traditional energy lose their jobs.

All the while, American industry will flee to other countries where they can power their assembly lines with cheaper energy. Because nearly four decades of obscene subsidies for wind and solar power haven't worked, Waxman-Markey ups the ante and engages in societal re-engineering and fundamental restructuring of America's energy supply.

No, there will be no rationing of Healthcare...

So with the flip of a switch, or in this case, the signing of a bill, there will be 50 million additional people added to the healthcare system via the public dole. But, somehow we are to believe there will be no need for rationing of services.

Just so you know who is advising the president on healthcare. Here is but one example:

It is not much of a leap from their conclusions in this article to how they expect to allocate all medical services once we add 50 million people to the system while at the same time slashing payments to the providers (hence, encouraging many to quit or retire early and fewer to enter the medical field all together)....

Cash-strapped Cuba says toilet paper running short

HAVANA (Reuters) – Cuba, in the grip of a serious economic crisis, is running short of toilet paper and may not get sufficient supplies until the end of the year, officials with state-run companies said on Friday.

Officials said they were lowering the prices of 24 basic goods to help Cubans get through the difficulties provoked in part by the global financial crisis and three destructive hurricanes that struck the island last year.

Cuba's financial reserves have been depleted by increased spending for imports and reduced export income, which has forced the communist-led government to take extraordinary measures to keep the economy afloat. [Much like BHO.]

"The corporation has taken all the steps so that at the end of the year there will be an important importation of toilet paper," an official with state conglomerate Cimex said on state-run Radio Rebelde.

The shipment will enable the state-run company "to supply this demand that today is presenting problems," he said.

There will be no further pre-screening, Baird said. After the call is over, the recording will be posted on his Web site.

Baird said the phone interviews will include "a much better cross-section of the public" than some live town halls.

Nigeria: Thirteen-year-old forced to watch Pastor hacked to death in Boko Haram deadly violence

A thirteen-year-old Nigerian Christian has told Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) sources how she was forced to watch her pastor’s murder, and has also spoken of her four-day ordeal as a prisoner in the besieged compound of Islamist group, Boko Haram.

On 26 July, Mary was in church with her pastor, his brother and an older Christian woman when a group of fifty militants broke in. She and her pastor hid as the group killed the pastor’s brother and dragged the older woman out of the room. On discovering their hiding place, the militants cut off her pastor’s hand to stop him holding on to her, then hacked him to death with machetes before setting him on fire.

The girl and the woman were dragged to Boko Haram’s compound in Maiduguri’s Railway district, and were placed in a room with around 100 other Christian women and girls. They were all asked to renounce their faith or face continued imprisonment, while Christian men were given the choice of renouncing their faith or dying.

Mary vividly describes how she was forced to wash the blood stained clothing of Boko Haram fighters. She was in the camp for four days, but managed to escape with a few others when military forces intensified their attack on the compound.

Mary’s pastor was one of three Christian ministers targeted and killed by Boko Haram during last week’s violence. Photographs showing the corpse of one murdered pastor from the Church of Christ in Nigeria, Rev Sabo Yakubu, indicate that his heart may have been ripped out.

Stuart Windsor, CSW’s National Director said: “CSW is deeply saddened by the appalling nature of the crimes committed by this sect against innocent civilians. Local Christians have also expressed disappointment that some western media have disregarded the targeted nature of attacks on their community, and the brutal murders of Christian pastors. Unless this aspect of the violence is recognised by all and dealt with effectively, people in Northern Nigeria will continue to suffer because of their religious beliefs”.

Psychological barriers hobble climate action

Psychological barriers like uncertainty, mistrust and denial keep most Americans from acting to fight climate change, a task force of the American Psychological Association said on Wednesday. [Yeah, that and the fact it's all a hoax...]

While most Americans -- 75 percent to 80 percent in a Pew Research Center poll -- said climate change is an important issue, it still ranked last in a list of 20 compelling issues such as the economy or terrorism, the task force said. [No kidding...? Who would have thunk?]

Numerous psychological barriers are to blame, the task force found, including: uncertainty over climate change, mistrust of the messages about risk from scientists or government officials, denial that climate change is occurring or that it is related to human activity. [Wow. That is great! People are finally beginning to wake up!!!!]

House Orders Up Three Elite Jets

Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies.

But apparently Congress is not philosophically averse to private air travel: At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress.

The Air Force had asked for one Gulfstream 550 jet (price tag: about $65 million) as part of an ongoing upgrade of its passenger air service.

But the House Appropriations Committee, at its own initiative, added to the 2010 Defense appropriations bill another $132 million for two more airplanes and specified that they be assigned to the D.C.-area units that carry Members of Congress, military brass and top government officials.

Because the Appropriations Committee viewed the additional aircraft as an expansion of an existing Defense Department program, it did not treat the money for two more planes as an earmark, and the legislation does not disclose which Member had requested the additional money.

Um, and, "Why is it again we should take congress seriously?"

Seventy-one percent (71%) of U.S. voters say President Obama’s policies have increased the size of the federal deficit, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Ok, well I knew there had to be some ignoramuses in the poll:
Only five percent (5%) say the president’s policies have cut the deficit, and 10% say they have had no impact. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.

Dear Mr. Emanuel:

As you know, Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) recently raised questions about the failure of the stimulus and suggested on a national television show that stimulus money scheduled to be spent in future years ought to be returned to the American taxpayers. Following Senator Kyl's remarks, according to Politico, you coordinated an "assault" on Senator Kyl and other critics of your policies by directing four cabinet secretaries to write to Jan Brewer, the Governor of Arizona, asking pointedly if, in light of Senator Kyl's remarks, Governor Brewer wished to forfeit taxpayer money directed to Arizona by the stimulus. These tactics have been characterized as "a hit to the nose" and a message to "Back off." While this type of scare tactic may work in Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.

And later in the letter...
Since I represent a district in the great state of California, I hope that you will not take this letter as an indication of Governor Schwarzenegger's position on stimulus funds dedicated to California nor his position on any other public policy issue. I can assure you that any attempt to intimidate me or silence my criticism of the stimulus through such Chicago-style tactics will be futile.
