Acknowledging that "tough times for America often mean tougher times for African-Americans," US President Barack Obama on Saturday called for more local and national engagement by fellow blacks.

She will say or do whatever is politically expedient to keep her in power. Bill did it for 8 years. Are Democrats just that stupid that they can't see it? Are they ignorant? Or, are they just plain gullible?

I think they just want so bad to believe they are right on the issues they will believe anything, even when shown the facts. "Feeling" good about a persons intentions is so much easier than becoming informed of facts.

When will the Jews in the U.S. come to realize that we Christians, especially us right wing evangelicals, are their best friends and the limousine liberals are simply paying them lip service? The liberal Democrats have been taking the Jewish and black votes for granted for 50 years. When will they wake up?

Here are 3 VERY practical solutions to our financial mess from Laurence J. Kotlikoff, as printed in the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Review July/August 2006

The first 2/3's of the paper is a little deep and tells us what we already know.
1) We cannot (and keep in mind this was published in 2006) meet the future budgetary debt obligations within the confines of our current taxation system.
2) We cannot meet the future debt obligations of our Social Security obligations.
3)We have a healthcare insurance problem to fix; not a healthcare problem to fix.

If you skip to the heading "Fixing our Fiscal Institutions" on pg 12 of the paper you see the reasonable solutions he outlines. With a little tweaking I think he might actual solutions. While it may be worthwhile to discuss the existence of the entitlements at all, I would argue that this train is already charging at us at full throttle and we had better do something QUICKLY or the U.S. will officially go bankrupt.

Here it comes... The BIG stuff....

So we have a new bill introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush [D-IL]. It is a HR 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. (Full Text Here)

Basically, if enacted, this legislation would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

It is registered
You are fingerprinted
You supply a current Driver's License
You supply your Social Security #
You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of the enforcers' choosing

Each update, change, or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25. Failure to do so will result in you automatically losing the right to own a firearm and your becoming subject to up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. The gun(s) must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. Under this provision, the government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely and away from accessibility to children. This highly subjective search is punishable for up to 5 years in prison for non-compliance.

Where's the outrage?!?!?!

I guess someone from the U.S. main stream media must have to actually pick up on this story before there can be any real outrage. I wonder if the MSM will ever bother to point out the hypocrisy?

I'm sure that Christopher Dodd is as pure as the wind driven snow. The under estimated value of the "little cottage in Ireland" was just an honest "mistake" on his part.

Notice the difference....?

I pulled this quote from an essay at The Patriot Post, Friday Digest - Vol. 09 No. 07. I ask you to notice the difference in the tone this quote when compared to the tone and meaning of the rhetoric of Our Dear Leader, The Most Merciful, President, Barack Hussein Obama.

Campaigning for the presidency, Reagan said, "This is the issue: whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them for ourselves. ... Smithfield Foods, Inc News (i.e., trim the fat anyone?)

I saw this article on a trade website and saw this response to it:
This is past serious. It's down right scary. Not to mention all the support jobs that rely on these plants to make a living. How can the U.S. government idly stand by and watch a food industry business this big shutting down? - name withheld

To which I responded:
"How can the US government stand by & watch...?" Are you kidding me? Should the government nationalize the pork industry, too? Why not? They have already nationalized much of the financial industry and they are about to do the same to the auto industry, the health care industry and the energy industry. Is this what "we the people" have become? A nation of, “What can my government do for me?”

The simple fact is, government caused the entire financial disaster and now same people who drove us off the cliff want to try to fix it. They don’t even know what the problem is! If the government had let some of these financial institutions fail, let the automakers fail, we would all be better off in the long haul.

Smithfield is doing EXACTLY the right thing, if only a little too late. They will hopefully do even more to cut costs. That is the responsible thing to do. This is how free markets work.

I'd much rather have a dreadfully deep 18 month recession, than a two decade long depression, which is exactly where we are headed unless the American people wake up, start educating themselves on the issues and participating in out Representative Republic Representative Republic is our current form of government, not to be confused with a democracy – for clarification see: this video for an explanation.

I applaud all these moves. I’d love to help them and any other companies who are willing to take such bold steps to save their business and prevent the government from further intervention in the free market!

For the record, I was begining to think there were no conseratives in my home state of Wisconsin.

Should the U.S. Senate leadership follow Tennessee's lead?

Just a few weeks ago, Republicans in the Tennessee House of Representatives stood on principle and ousted a disloyal member, costing them the majority (the first majority since 1869)

Should the U.S. Senate do the same with its members? I recommend the immediate ejection of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins from the Republican Party and to publicly rebuke Arlen Spector with the promise of ejection, should he ever break ranks again in such an important vote (of which there will be many in the coming months & years).

Are they just irresponsible or are they zombies?

Those seem to be the choices.

Do liberals want jobs or not?

Here are some very interesting stories.

For those of you who do not know about American Apparel, their manufacturing facility is in downtown LA. They pay more than the going wage rate and offer benefits in an area that is largely bereft of solid reputable manufacturing companies. You can argue their advertisements are not appropriate, but you cannot argue that their products are proudly a Made in the USA (at least for now).

Of course, when they want to open a new store in other blighted neighborhoods, they sometimes run into people resistance.

Then there is the 800 pound gorilla in the room, Walmart. Again, no company is more controversial than this one, but it seems absolutely insane that they do not have a store in Chicago (or many major cities for that matter). They have done more for the so-called "working poor" in this nation than the government has done since LBJ's "War on Poverty" and the inception of his "Great Society." Of course, in spite of the potential of revenue generated by the construction of up to 12 NEW stores on Chicago (using union labor with the usual kickbacks to the union bosses - no doubt), they (other unions) don't want Walmart stores.

Why do I think all of the U.S. is about to get a taste of politics, Chicago style...?

Which leads me to the question, "Could some government have done this on purpose with the sole purpose of creating a financial crisis to drive the Republicans out of power and give them someone they perceive as easier to deal with? Or, could someone like, say George Soros (and company) have done this to garner power for moveon.org and all its affiliated groups?" Call me a conspiracy theorist if you like, but it sure seems strange that the bulk of the problems occurred on a single day, conveniently a month before a national election and just as McCain/Palin started to gain steam.

First, Michael Steele cleans house at the RNC.

Then, the House Republicans stand together on the "Porkulus" bill.

The Tennessee GOP stands tall on principle (Really, when was the last time that happened?)

Then, all but 3 RINO's voted against the "Porkulus" bill. Maybe the Senate GOP can learn something from the Tennessee GOP?

The GOP gives the LA Governor, Bobby Jindal, the national stage by having him give the GOP response to the President's State of the Union address.

Now. Judd Gregg very publically withdraws as Commerce Secretary nominee on principle!!!

To paraphrase the first lady, "For the first time in my adult (at least lately) I am proud of my party (accept for the 3 RINO's)."

Can the GOP actually have a leader in its Chairman?

Is it possible? Can the GOP have a Chairman who is not a spineless, lip wristed, piece of linguine?

Finally, a LEADER willing to speak "truth to power' (that's a little liberal lingo)! Anyone with an once of gray matter will look at this bill and know it is nothing but political payback for everyone associated with the Far-Left Wing of the Democratic Party, with the ultimate goal of ensconcing them in power for decades to come!

You go Michael! Keep it up and I make actually resume my contributions to the GOP!

The Executives I Believe SHOULD go to jail....

Yes, the headline is correct. Even I believe there are some things executives do that should result in lengthy prison terms. The Peanut Company of America President Stewart Parnell and Sammy Lightsey, manager of the South Georgia plant belong in jail. I'm thinking one life term for every death would be appropriate. My prediction is they will go to jail, the company will go bankrupt, and the employees will become unemployed.

But, the "Porkulus" bill is so flush with funds for the unemployed that when a new owner purchases PCA out of bankruptcy, the new owners will have a difficult time staffing the plant at reasonable wage rates, making it difficult to reopen. Then what will happen to all the South Georgia peanut farmers? More subsidies?

The Pot Calling The Kettle Black!

Yes, today executives from eight banks who received TARP funds are getting "called on carpet" to explain how they used about $160,000,000,000 of that money. This reminds me of the SNL skit on their news segment called "Really?" by Seth Meyer.

Let's see... congress presses banks to loan money to people who are unqualified even, to the point of forcing Fannie May & Freddie Mac to buy these bundled risky mortgages from banks. Congress allows the blackmailing of banks by community activist groups like ACORN, further forcing the banks to make a higher percentage of bad loans as payment for access into certain neighborhoods. The treasury department under Alan Greenspan keeps 'easy money' out there for people to borrow, while warning about 'irrational exuberance' of the stock market. And now congress is asking about a measly $160,000,000 of TARP funds (all of it borrowed)? REALLY? REALLY?

Congress, just yesterday, approved $838,000,000,000 "Stimulus bill, while the treasury secretary announces $2,000,000,0000,000 in NEW loans guarantees to banks. Now they want to grill a few executives about how they spent $160,000,000? REALLY? REALLY?

Just ONCE, I'd love to see an executive turn the tables on these pompous hypocrites in congress and ask them about how they are spending your grand children's tax money. I'd love for an executive to stand up and yell, "Truth! You can't handle the truth! Look in the mirror senator/congressman before you dare judge us! Get your own house in order before you accuse us of misspending money. Fire up the jet! I'm going back to work!"

How fun would that be? One can always dream!

So here Goggle want to monitor your energy use through the "smart grid" technology.

But, here Goggle get raked over the coals for the HUGE amounts of power its massive banks of servers, housed in "server farms". It begs the question, "Does Goggle benefit from the porkulus package as a farm, or as a technology company into smart grid technology, health care technology, etc... (or both)?"

So you want to see sausage made....

Here is exactly why "we the people" get screwed (can I say that? - I just did.) I encourage you to try to read through this mumbo jumbo. I wish they'd write in plain old English. Of course, then we might actually understand most of what they say and not like it.

There all that mumbo jumbo it talks about creating a National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, who "will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions." Does this frighten you? It frightens me.

Read this and you'll really freak out! It's hard to believe after reading the article that the author was the former Lt. Governor of New York. How did they let her go? Oh, wait. It's New York.

The end game: To entrench the Democratic Party into power thereby creating a one party system!

What they don't get....

Here's what those pointy headed intellectual elites don't get about the "stimulus" package. The average American person doesn't want or expect our government to bail them out. The average American wants the government to get out of their lives.

Think about it. How many times a day does the government stick its nose into your business (and it's hand into your wallet, I might add). If you had cereal with a little milk this morning for breakfast, you can thank the government for the price you paid for the milk, since the government puts a floor under the price of milk via farm subsidies. You stop and get gas and a cup of coffee at the convenience store and you've paid 18.4 cents a gallon in federal tax and anywhere from 7.5 (GA) to 31.9 (NY)cents. Where I live, you paid an extra 6% tax on the cup of coffee. You head to work and have to go through a toll road, there's another $1.25. The tax on your lunch is another $1.50. Then you get your paycheck that afternoon and the $1000 you earned turned into $650. There's federal income tax, FICA, state tax, Social Security tax. If you own the business forget about it. From the time you get there in the morning the government is in your face.

At no point does the average American ask the government for anything, other than to get out of the way! Let us do the heavy lifting that we are completely capable of doing. We are still doing the heavy lifting today, we just do it with the burden of carrying of Uncle Sam our backs.

Frank Rich doesn't get it...

Will they ever "get" the fact that the government does not create jobs, except through the confiscatory collection of taxes (at the pint of gun and under threat of imprisonment, I might add)? Clearly Arlen Spector doesn't get it...

Will we ever be able to recover from this porkulus bill?

I ran across this interesting series of articles. I'm not sure why this stuff isn't all over the news, but I imagine as I finish reading the articles it'll be explained.

Like many people out there, I have money in the stock market in various retirement accounts. This series of articles makes it seem impossible for the regular guy like me (& you) to make money in the market. The real money is in being able to manipulate the market for your advantage.

John McCain Blasts Obama...?

Ok, will the real John McCain please stand up? I'm come on! NOW he starts to "blast" Obama? Where (if you can even call this "blasting") was this during the campaign? What, you wait until you've lost to get tough! Sarah Palin was doing all the "blasting" and John McCain just took the 'high road'.

Too little, too late from a loser. Be gone John Sidney McCain! Be gone!

Let's see how BHO reacts to this one story....

Russia sabre rattling? What happened to glastnos and perestroika? I thought they'd gone all democratic? They weren't our enemy. Even Bush '43 said so.

So how will BHO respond to Russia TAKING ports on the Black Sea? How will he respond to these acts of aggression? Will he send Joe Biden to Georgia in an act of solidarity?

I'm sure Biden will come to the rescue...

Another vote of confidence from #2

You just have to love Joe Biden. It's no wonder they are sending him to Germany. I can't wait to see what he tells them!

I do rather enjoy watching him stick his foot in his mouth, like when he said this. Of course, he went on a couple days later to do this. He adds the fun to this administration, that's for sure!

The Action Americans Need, by Barack Hussein Obama

My response to BHO's editorial:

The people of America are discovering that elections have consequences. The consequences of this election will be felt for generations if the American people (the, "We the people" in the Declaration of Independence) don't stand up enmasse to fight this radical turn to the left.

With one signature on this bill BHO will effectively ensconce the Democratic Party in power for 50 years like FDR did in the 30's. That is, after all, is the REAL motive for this bill. I am neither a lawyer nor much of a scholar, but I've read through the highlights of this bill and they barely try to hide the fact that this is an attempt to effectively create a one party system of government.

This bill inflicts an 80+% increase in the federal government’s discretionary spending - all of it borrowed, with more bailouts for the banking and auto industry already on the horizon. The result will mean BHO will be the father of the next "Great Depression". Inflation will be followed by the devaluation of the U.S. dollar (ior visa versa-I never remember which comes first in depression) bringing the U.S. to its knees for decades (as Japan was of much of the last 15 years).

Please remember what finally pulled the U.S. out of the last Great Depression - World War II. Since another world war on the scale of WWII will not likely be necessary, what will it take to bring us out next time?

The Rangel Rule of 2009

I think in addition to the "Rangel Rule of 2009" we should add the "Geithner Rule", the "Daschle Rule" and the "No conflict of interest Clinton Rule" of 2009.

Or maybe the "Barack Hussein Obama Ethical Administration Rule". Even the lefties are getting fed up.

Of course, we can expect Chris Dodd to really give a grilling to Daschle. Re: About halfway down, "Dodd set to refinance two loans under scrutiny".

What's the saying about the 'fox and the hen house'?

What do you suppose would happen to us 'little people' out here in 'fly over country' if we failed to pay our taxes and tried to tell the IRS, "It was an honest mistake. I'm sorry"? Do you think the IRS would waive the penalties & fees for you?

Let's see if I have this right....

If understand the financial crisis, even a little, I think it goes something like this:

1) Americans buy a house for $500,000 no money down, interest only from a mortgage broker.
2) Said broker bundles a bunch of these mortgages together and sells them as a security to a brokerage house.
3) Said brokerage house, bundles these securities together as a collateralized mortgage obligation - CMO (3 classes based on risk) to other brokerages, namely in Iceland and EU countries.
4)These are supposedly "insured", but cash reserves at "insurers" like AIG have no regulation, so there really is no insurance.
5)American's continue this cycle as home values raise, using equity to buy speculative property and finance lifestyles they cannot afford.
6)The credit Americans are using is used to purchase more an more products manufactured in China (the Wal-Mart Effect: Save money. Live better).
7) China is flush with cash and is buying US Treasury bonds allowing our government to save money and live better, too.
8) Suddenly, people 4% of American homeowners cannot pay their mortgages. This begins the collapse of the house of cards. Bad mortgages, not enough cash reserves for the CMO insurance.
(I'll admit, I'm getting pretty fuzzy on my knowledge right in here...)
9) Iceland's economy, many of the EU economies, Russia's and not China's economy begin to weaken.
10) Because China was behind the curve, they still have a lot of cash and now they are coming to the U.S. to buy up undervalued real estate.

Really...? Technically, they are using our money to buy (at fire sale prices I might add) real estate in the U.S. because their economy is "uncertain." Does this seem like a comedy sketch or what?

Obama in talks with Iran & Syria. That's nice...

Wasn't that directly against policy of the Bush administration? Why isn't this treason?

Also from the article: The Syrian president himself revealed on Monday that "dialogue started some weeks ago in a serious manner through personalities who are close to the administration and who were dispatched by the administration."

Newt has the ability to tell it like it is... I wish he did more of it. I still think global warming is a hoax and he should not have participated in those awful commercials with San Fran Nan condoning global warming, but he nails this one on the head. Thanks to Phil for pointing this out...

So you want to know were your money is going...?

Here is a link to the summary of the nearly $1,000,000,000,000 "stimulus bill".

$6,900,000,000 for local government energy efficiency block grants. (Maybe ACORN will handle the local distribution of the funds)

It's quite a potpourri of spending. It all sounds good on paper, though I'd say the government should not be involved in most of this stuff.

For example, "energy efficient home retro fits" $2,500,000,000. That's a lot of new windows & caulk. Of course, it's being administered by HUD. We all know there's no corruption in HUD. Anyway, isn't that the same as the first one?

$6,200,000,000 for home weatherization. Isn't that the same as...? Oh never mind!

$3,000,000,000 for National Science Foundation. Look what they do with the money. I guess, now congress can say they have already "given at the office" to these guys.

$1,000,000,000 for light rail. Is there a single light rail system in the country that pays for itself?

$1,100,000,000 for Amtrak. Need I say more?

$3,100,000,000 for improvements on federal land. Umm... The government is in debt. Maybe, they should sell some of that land or privatize the management of said land.

And, now for the largest benefactors of them all.... Education! $20,000,000,000 for 21st century class rooms. Ok, then why am I paying property taxes? I thought that's what paid for new schools. I didn't realize the federal government was in the school building business.

More money for higher education. I guess this means colleges get to raise their tuition again. I mean, why not, the fed's got it covered?

Child care development block grants (ACORN) get $2,000,000,000 to babysit about 300,000 kids (yes, that is $6,666 per kid) so their 'low income' parents can go to work. Let's see, put 20 kids together in a room one can make $133,333 a year per room.... Put a few classroom together and pretty soon you're talking real money! Oh, it gets better!

$2,100,000,000 for Head start. When I was a kid, it was called German-kindergarten and was held at our church by parents.... I guess now that's worth about $9,000 per.

$20,000,000,000 to "jump start" the computerization of medical records.

There is so much more, but I'm getting dizzy. I need to rest. I'll have to look through the "stimulus" package again to see if I can get reimbursed for resting.

And this is the "Exective Summary". I'm sure the real wasteful spending is buried deep in the actual bill....

BTW-Where is the additional money to bailout the banks? Is that going to cost EXTRA!?!?

Is the world going crazy, or what?

More banks failing... But, not to worry. We have some fine leadership. The Secretary of State is married to an extortionist. The Treasury Secretary is a tax cheat. The Secretary of Health & Human Services is BIGGER tax cheat (oh, and he's earned about $220,000 from the companyies he's set to regulate).

But not to worry, at least we are as bad as Russia. They are having riots due to their economy. Are we so apathetic that we won't even call our legislators, much less riot?

But, not to worry. Soon we'll never hear about it. Yeah, glasnost.

Of course, we haven't over thrown our government. Iceland gets a new Prime Minister following banking crisis. Yet.

Even Britain is having their issues with worker unrest in the UK.

Of course, we are getting ready for our own strikes. Oil workers preparing to strike in the US.

Maybe we need to listen to Australia's PM. More talk of a "new world order".

When and how will it all come to a head? Is Barack Hussein Obama prepared for this stuff?

Loan Modification vs Foreclosure

Here is a reasonable look at the financial crisis at ground level.

I've been saying the same thing as it relates to the banks and auto companies. Let them fail. The result will be painful, very painful - for the short term. But for the long term the fittest companies will survive. Once we've shed the junk, restructured the rest we can move forward, much sooner.
