D'oh!

Remember these famous words:

Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance. - Nancy Pelosi

Or How about these famous words:

But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy. - Nancy Pelosi

Ironically, those quotes from the San Fran Nan were never talked about in this story:

With Affordable Care Act, Canceled Policies for New York Professionals

By ANEMONA HARTOCOLLIS, NYT
December 13, 2013 Here's a few excerpts from the story (along with my running commentary):
Many in New York’s professional and cultural elite have long supported President Obama’s health care plan. But now, to their surprise, thousands of writers, opera singers, music teachers, photographers, doctors, lawyers and others are learning that their health insurance plans are being canceled and they may have to pay more to get comparable coverage, if they can find it. [Oh, pshaw, the poor darlings.  What was it San Fran Nan said.  Oh yeah, "Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance."]
The people affected include not just writers, artists, doctors and the like, but also independent tradespeople, like home builders or carpenters, who work on their own.  [99% of whom have never voted for anyone but a Democrat - EVER.]
But while those policies, by and large, had been canceled because they did not meet the law’s requirements for minimum coverage, many of the New York policies being canceled meet and often exceed the standards, brokers say. The rationale for disqualifying those policies, said Larry Levitt, a health policy expert at the Kaiser Family Foundation, was to prevent associations from selling insurance to healthy members who are needed to keep the new health exchanges financially viable.  [Yes, the healthy cannot possibly have such good insurance.  It would be unfair, unequal.  We must all share in the misery.]
Among those affected are members of the Authors Guild; the Advertising Photographers of America; the Suzuki Association of the Americas, a music teachers organization; theSociety of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators; the New York City Bar Association; and the New York County Medical Society. (One group, the Freelancers Union, negotiated a one-year exemption with the state.)  [Oh, to be in a union....]
“One of the reasons to join a society is to get health insurance,” said Dr. Paul N. Orloff, president of the New York County Medical Society. Even doctors pay a lot for coverage, he said, because the days of trading medical care with colleagues are long gone. “In the old days, professional courtesy was the norm,” Dr. Orloff said.  [Yes, he really said that.  Who knew health insurance was such an integral part of our society?  Given that health insurance was largely an invention created during & after WWII to attract workers to companies, it makes one wonder how we got along for the first 160 years.]
It is not lost on many of the professionals that they are exactly the sort of people — liberal, concerned with social justice — who supported the Obama health plan in the first place. Ms. Meinwald, the lawyer, said she was a lifelong Democrat who still supported better health care for all, but had she known what was in store for her, she would have voted for Mitt Romney. [If only she hadn't been lied to for 4 years by the same paper that wrote this story, she might have known what she was in for....  I'll be she re-ups her subscription though.  I also bet she voted for De Blasio.  If she doesn't like Obamacare, just wait & see what her mayor has in store for her.  People like her will never, let me say it again: NEVER, vote for a Republican, or at least admit it, lest they not get invited to the right cocktail parties...]

The Death Knell for Keystone...

This week Obama hired John Podesta as "Counselor to the President", ensuring the Keystone Pipeline never gets approval.

Why hire Podesta?  Aside from being the consummate Washington D.C. insider (former Clinton Chief of Staff, Lobbyist, co-founder of the both The Podesta Group and the Center for American Progress) he was added to the White House Staff and will have a "broad portfolio touching on the economy and congressional relations" according to the NY Times.

But, Podesta is a flaming liberal environmentalist who actually still believes in the global warming hoax and is now empowered to influence official Obama regime policy regarding all things environmental.  The official line is that Podesta has "officially recused" himself from anything regarding the Keystone pipeline.   More "transparency" from this regime...

A little about the benefits of the $5.3 billion Keystone XL pipeline:

  • 9,000 skilled (re:high paying) American workeres will be required to build it.
  • 7,000 U.S manufacturing jobs will be supported for the production of steel pipe, valves and pumps
  • TransCanada (pipeline owner/manager) already has 50 U.S. suppliers in 18 U.S. states.
  • TransCanada currently employs 4,000 U.S. employees in OK & TX building a $2.3 billion Gulf Coast Pipeline Project
  • These pipelines will combine for $5 billion in property taxes alone
  • The Keystone XL will add $172 billion to the U.S. GDP by 2035 and will create 1.8 million person-years employment in the US over the next 22 years
  • Keystone XL will reduce the amount of oil the U.S. needs to import from places like the Middle East and Venezuela who, in case you haven;t noticed, aren't exactly our best friends
So what's so bad about the Keystone XL Pipeline?

According to guys like Podesta it'll only further entrench U.S. "dependency" on oil.  Really?  I wonder if knows of any electric powered 777's or even MD80's?  How about electric powered 18 wheeler's or container ships?  I'm just sayin'.  Come on john, I appreciate your desire to lessen our dependency on oil, though I want to more specifically lessen out dependency on Middle East and Venezuelan oil, rather than on oil in general, but really, do you have it's replacement?  I didn't think so.

Back to the "transparency of the Obama regime.  I do need to point out, John Podesta already sits on the Foreign Affairs Policy Board and the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board both of which are VERY involved in the Keystone XL pipeline approval process.

So whats the big deal you say?  Well, let me introduce you to a board member of Podesta's Center for American Progress, Tom Steyer.  Aside from initially making a fortune trading in oil and oil companies in his hedge funds he and Podest authored an opinion piece in the WSJ: "We Don't Need More Foreign Oil & Gas".  Oh, and did I mention Mr. Steyer is also a major investor in a competing pipeline by Kinder Morgan

Mr. Steyer is also a large, no HUGE, democrat donor (through PACs).

This is all VERY complex and the best  exposé on all this is on the Free Beacon.

It'd actually be funny if it weren't so accurate....

Mark Stein coins a new phrase...

We've all heard of the "Low-Information Voter" (ala Rush Limbaugh - Thanks, Rush), but I do believe Makr Stein just coined a new term: "Low Information Congresswomen" when pointing out just how uninformed his congress woman Representative Ann Kuster (Dem NH 2nd District).  Just watch her be totally baffled by Benghazi at a town hall, ultimately saying she was there to discuss the Middle East, not Benghazi.  Somebody buy her a globe, please!

Mark Stein is rightly disturbed by the typical empty suit poly-tic-ian look to her aide near the end of the clip as if to say, "How did you let me get this question, especially knowing I'm clueless?"

Obama Wants to Appease Iran...

...., really?  Really.

10 years of nuclear weapons program extended indefinitely.

See Elliot Abrams:

Why Liberals Should Never be Allowed to Govern: Reason #113

Only a complete buffoon (or in this case, former Vietnam vet, and current Secretary of State, John "Effing" Kerry) could create foreign policy agreement, in this case the nuclear arms deal with Iran, that would anger BOTH Saudi Arabia AND Israel.  Seriously, when was the last time those two countries were on the same side.  OK, I know the Iraq war.  But still, this is so completely asinine that even Canada wants no part of it.

All you need to know about John "Effing" Kerry:

So now you can see why our highest diplomat is the same man who pissed of Saudi Arabia one side:

Fars News Agency, the media outlet of the Revolutionary Guards, reported that [Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei in a statement thanked President Hassan Rouhani and his negotiating team for their achievement in Geneva.

“I thank God that… the new government… was able to legitimize the Iranian nation’s nuclear program on the international stage and take the initial step in a way that the nuclear rights and the enrichment rights of the Iranian nation are acknowledged by world powers where before they had tried to deny them, and (the agreement will) open the way for future big strides in technical and economic progress,” Khamenei said.

So there we go.  A deal where there are no winners, only losers, proving once again the pointy-headed liberal academic types rule the day, where the west loses and the "axis of evil" wins.

Reagan on Carson March 13, 1975

There are a lot of people who are fond of saying that Reagan wouldn't be allowed into the Republican Party today because he wasn't conservative enough.  Really?  Listen Reagan then watch Ted Cruz on Leno and you tell me.  Does Ronaldus Magnus sound more like the wishy-washy, bi-partisian, moderate John McCain or Tea Party celeb Ted Cruz?

Wisconsin Political Speech Raid
Subpoenas hit allies of Scott Walker as his re-election campaign looms.
Updated Nov. 15, 2013 6:53 p.m. ET

Americans learned in the IRS political targeting scandal that government enforcement power can be used to stifle political speech. Something similar may be unfolding in Wisconsin, where a special prosecutor is targeting conservative groups that participated in the battle over Governor Scott Walker's union reforms.
In recent weeks, special prosecutor Francis Schmitz has hit dozens of conservative groups with subpoenas demanding documents related to the 2011 and 2012 campaigns to recall Governor Walker and state legislative leaders.
Copies of two subpoenas we've seen demand "all memoranda, email . . . correspondence, and communications" both internally and between the subpoena target and some 29 conservative groups, including Wisconsin and national nonprofits, political vendors and party committees. The groups include the League of American Voters, Wisconsin Family Action, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, Americans for Prosperity—Wisconsin, American Crossroads, the Republican Governors Association, Friends of Scott Walker and the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
One subpoena also demands "all records of income received, including fundraising information and the identity of persons contributing to the corporation." In other words, tell us who your donors are.
***
The probe began in the office of Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf, though no one will publicly claim credit for appointing Mr. Schmitz, the special prosecutor. The investigation is taking place under Wisconsin's John Doe law, which bars a subpoena's targets from disclosing its contents to anyone but his attorneys. John Doe probes work much like a grand jury, allowing prosecutors to issue subpoenas and conduct searches, while the gag orders leave the targets facing the resources of the state with no way to publicly defend themselves.
That makes it hard to confirm any details. But one target who did confirm receiving a subpoena is Eric O'Keefe, who realizes the personal risk but wants the public to know what is going on. Mr. O'Keefe is director of the Wisconsin Club for Growth, which advocates lower taxes, limited government and other conservative priorities. He has worked in political and policy circles for three decades, including stints as national director of the Libertarian Party in 1980 and a director of the Cato Institute, and he helped to found the Center for Competitive Politics, which focuses on protecting political speech.
Mr. O'Keefe says he received his subpoena in early October. He adds that at least three of the targets had their homes raided at dawn, with law-enforcement officers turning over belongings to seize computers and files.
Mr. O'Keefe and other sources say they don't know the genesis of the probe, and Mr. Schmitz declined comment. The first public reference appeared in an October 21 blog post by Daniel Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Mr. Bice is well known for his Democratic sources.
The kitchen-sink subpoenas deserve skepticism considering their subject and targets. The disclosure of conservative political donors has become a preoccupation of the political left across the country. In the heat of the fight over Governor Walker's reforms, unions urged boycotts of Walker contributors and DemocraticUnderground.com published a list of Walker donors for boycotting.
The subpoena demand for the names of donors to nonprofit groups that aren't legally required to disclose them is especially troubling. Readers may recall that the Cincinnati office of the IRS sent the tax-exempt applications of several conservative groups to the ProPublica news website in 2012.
The subpoenas don't spell out a specific allegation, but the demands suggest the government may be pursuing a theory of illegal campaign coordination by independent groups during the recall elections. If prosecutors are pursuing a theory that independent conservative groups coordinated with candidate campaigns during the recall, their goal may be to transform the independent expenditures into candidate committees after the fact, requiring revision of campaign-finance disclosures and possible criminal charges.
***
Another reason for skepticism is the probe's timing as Mr. Walker's 2014 re-election campaign looms. This is the second such investigation against Mr. Walker in three and a half years, following one that began in the office of Milwaukee County Democratic District Attorney John Chisholm in spring 2010.
That probe examined whether staffers used government offices for political purposes while Mr. Walker was Milwaukee County Executive, but after three years turned up nothing on Mr. Walker and embarrassingly little else. The final charges included a case of an aide sending campaign emails on county time, two Walker aides stealing money, and charges of child enticement against the domestic partner of a former staffer.
Mr. Walker's Democratic recall opponent, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, nonetheless used the probe against the Governor, saying in a debate that "I have a police department that arrests felons, he has a practice of hiring them." So it's notable that the new batch of subpoenas began flying just days before Democrat Mary Burke announced her candidacy for Governor. District Attorneys are partisan elected officials in Wisconsin, and Mr. Landgraf works for Mr. Chisholm. Neither of them returned our call for comment.
The investigation's focus on campaign-finance law also falls into the wheelhouse of the Government Accountability Board, Wisconsin's political speech regulator. The GAB, which is made up of retired judges appointed by the Governor, has a history of pushing aggressive regulations of issue advertising. Mr. O'Keefe's Wisconsin Club for Growth has fought in court with the GAB over regulating political speech.
A person who has seen one of the Wisconsin search warrants tells us that the warrants were executed based on the request of Dean Nickel, who filed an affidavit for probable cause. Mr. Nickel is a former head of the Wisconsin Department of Justice Public Integrity Unit and has worked as an investigator for the GAB. Mr. Nickel told us he is a contractor for the GAB but wouldn't discuss the John Doe probe. GAB Director and General Counsel Kevin Kennedy declined to comment.
***
Perhaps the probe will turn up some nefarious activity that warrants this subpoena monsoon and home raids. But in the meantime the effect is to limit political speech by intimidating these groups from participating in the 2014 campaign. Stifling allies of Mr. Walker would be an enormous in-kind contribution to Democrats. Even if no charges are filed, the subpoenas will have served as a form of speech suppression.
Mr. O'Keefe told us that the flurry of subpoenas "froze my communications and frightened many allies and vendors of the pro-taxpayer political movement in Wisconsin and across the country." Even if no one is ever convicted of a crime, he says, "the process is the punishment."
[Note: all external links created by me.]

Again, this is frightening stuff.  Truly frightening.  This quote from Watchdog.org's M.D. Kittle published October 28, 2013, in his article:  Sources: Secret probe targeting conservatives is abuse of prosecutorial powers defines it quite succinctly:

“This is a taxpayer-funded, opposition-research campaign,” one source said. “This is not a question of what conservatives did wrong. It’s a question of one party in this state using prosecutorial powers to conduct a one-sided investigation into conservatives.”

Of course, the Daily Koz loves this stuff:

Barack Hussein Obama: Transforming America Using Chicago Style Political Methods and Detroit as a Template

Yes, I am saying it.  There two very good books  describing what led to the demise of a once great city.

Devil's Night: And Other True Tales of Detroit  by Ze've Chafets

and the newer book building on the theme outlined by Ze'ev Chafets:

What Doomed Detroit by Kevin D. Williamson

In a recent review of Williamson's book by David Issac of the Washington Free Beacon, he describes the racial politics, early by white democrats against blacks, and in more modern times, black democrats against whites.

Williamson writes about the more recent democrat racism:
“Detroit is a city in which black identity politics has trumped, and continues to trump, every other consideration, from basic finances to public safety.”
and:
“It is an irony of our history that the political home of black racism in American politics is also the historical political home of white racism: the Democratic Party...”

Issac describes a scene from a Detroit City Council meeting in the book:
During a 2009 debate on expanding a city convention center the assembled crowd told whites who were present to “go home.” Monica Conyers, then-council president and wife of Rep. John Conyers (D., Mich.), told a white union representative: “Those workers look like you—they don’t look like me.” Monica Conyers would later be convicted of bribery charges related to Detroit’s pension funds.
So how is this a template?  Well, beginning in the 1974 (and lasting 20 years, until 1994) Detroit came under the rule of an authoritarian Coleman Young.  Coleman young, as you can read about on your own, was an avowed communist and black nationalist.  He used the race card wherever it suited him, from lowering the expectations of his actual accomplishments with his constituency to playing the race card with anyone who opposed him.  And throughout is all, he lined his pockets.

Sound familiar?  This is Obama's template for his own regime.  And when the race card doesn't work Obama pulls out all the stops to eradicate opposition.  Starting with his early races Obama knew he could no compete in the area of ideas, especially if he told the truth.  This is why he had to eliminate the opposition, not beat the competition.  In Obama's first election he simply used a procedural challenge to eliminate the incumbent opponent.  You can read all about Obama's early elections here.

Still don't believe me?  What about the Presidential Executive Orders ?  Even worse is the still unraveling scandal in Obama's IRS.  Seriously, if this doesn't scare the hell out of you, you have no clue who & what the federal government, especially a Justice Department headed by the Chief Law Officer of the U.S., U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder  is capable of...

The list of Obama's scandals, mis-deed's and blunders are of epic proportions, but even scarier is that in addition to all the rest of the internal scandals, Obama is gutting the military of generals opposed to the Commander in Chief's  leaving the U.S. military, "unprepared to deploy".  All this while allowing Russia to build spy stations (disguised as GPS tracking stations) ON U.S. SOIL!

What next?

Union's Obsolescence Never More Apparent....

Boeing's unions seems to believe it is still 1957.  That's OK, I'm sure Boeing South Carolina will welcome the 777x....

From the WSJ:

Boeing Union Rejects Contract
Decision May Lead Jet Maker to Consider Locating 777X Project Outside Its Puget Sound Base
JON OSTROWER Updated Nov. 14, 2013 5:00 a.m. ET

SEATTLE— Boeing Co.'s largest union rejected an eight-year contract that would have guaranteed the plane maker's updated long-range 777X jetliner and its wings are built in unionized facilities in the Pacific Northwest.
The rejection brings fresh uncertainty to the process of finding a manufacturing home for the 777X. Boeing threatened earlier to look outside its traditional Puget Sound base should the contract vote fail.
Voting Wednesday, the 32,000 unionized members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, also known as the IAM, rejected the deal by a 67% to 33% margin.
Chaos marked the announcement here: The union's International Aerospace Coordinator Mark Johnson shared the results with assembled members, then quickly left the meeting hall to boos and chanting from members. The national leadership of the union hadn't endorsed the contract, but had repeatedly asked members to consider it on the grounds of long-term job growth. The union's local leadership had been under apparent pressure from national leadership. Local President Tom Wroblewski was to address the media after the results were announced, but a spokesman said immediately after the announcement that he wouldn't do so.
Mr. Wroblewski did offer a written statement, saying, "It is my belief that we represent the best aerospace workforce in the world and hope that as a result of this vote Boeing won't discard our skills when looking to place the 777X."
The contract, which was to take effect in late 2016, extracted deep concessions from the union, including significant changes in retirement benefits and the end of the defined-benefit pension. Accruals for the pension would cease at that time and would shift to a 401(k)-style defined-contribution plan.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chief Executive Ray Conner said in a statement, "We are very disappointed in the outcome of the union vote. But without the terms of this contract extension, we're left with no choice but to open the process competitively and pursue all options for the 777X."
...... the new uncertainty will likely set off a feeding frenzy among states vying for the valuable 777X work.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said in a news conference after the results were announced that the state will now bid for the 777X.
"The game is afoot and we intend to compete," Gov. Inslee said. On Monday, he signed an $8.7 billion package of incentives that had been announced six days earlier in tandem with the proposed union contract, aimed at landing the 777X.
Boeing said that both the incentives and the contract were required for it to select Washington for the final assembly of 777X and fabrication of its new carbon-fiber composite wings.
The machinists' existing contract, agreed to in late 2011 in a deal to keep manufacturing of Boeing's single-aisle 737 Max in unionized factories, is in effect until 2016. The company sought additional wage concessions at the time and was hailed as a model for future negotiations.
In 2011, Boeing opened its first nonunion final-assembly plant—in South Carolina—where it now builds some 787 Dreamliner jets. Industry officials have said the site is being considered for the 777X work.
Boeing has long envisioned building the 777X in Washington, where it has infrastructure and an experienced workforce; analysts see any other option as risky and expensive.
Many union members opposed to the contract saw the company's threat to look outside Puget Sound as a bluff, but now "nobody here knows what's going to happen," said Jim Levitt, a 34-year machinist. "It's like we're playing chicken with a driver who is not rational." [emphasis mine]

The last statement makes one wonder  if he's talking about Boeing or the union?  The union members are apparently smart enough to build on the most sophisticate machines in the world, but still too stupid to read the hand writing on the wall.  Do they really believe they are going to be allowed to keep their old fashioned pension plans in perpetuity? The auto unions have long since given those up.  The only people left on them are these Boeing employees and federal government employees.

I have to admit, I like the idea of Boeing building the 777x in South Carolina, if even for the selfish reason that we own a vacation home there and it'll increase the tax base and our ability for short term summer rentals.  Come on down ya'll!

$4,759,236 paid to WedMD by Obamacare

Yes, that's right $4,759,236 paid to WedMD by Obamacare.  See this article in the Washington Times (not exactly a conservative paper):

Concierge medicine: WebMD pockets millions from feds to promote Obamacare

By Jim McElhalton - The Washington Times, Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Two months before enrollment began in the Obamacare exchanges, the administration’s top health care official heaped praise on WebMD for launching an online resource to help Americans navigate the complex law.
The consumer health care site had the occasional nice thing to say about Obamacare, too. In one article, it predicted doctors might pick up more patients and crowed in an article titled “7 Surprising Things About the Affordable Care Act” that many consumers already had received insurance refunds under the law.
But what neither Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius nor WebMD mentioned at the time was that the company, which millions of Americans regularly read for health news, also stood to earn millions of dollars from a federal contract to teach doctors about Obamacare.
The contract documents, reviewed by The Washington Times, reward WebMD handsomely. For instance, the fee schedule offers dozens of products, including:
• As much as $126,826 for a single 5,000-word review article on scientific advances in a clinical topic.
• Up to $68,916 for a four-minute video from an opinion specialist.
• More than $140,000 for an eight-question online quiz.
WebMD says it doesn’t believe it had an obligation to disclose to its broad consumer base its $4.8 million contract with the government. The company says the contract, while awarded to WebMD, went through its Medscape platform, which provides continuing education to doctors in a password-protected portal and is run independently from WebMD’s news operation.
The article goes on to describe what some this "funding" is intended for:

Under the contract, awarded through the General Services Administration’s supply schedule, the training services consist of lectures, articles, podcasts and “expert viewpoints” in audio, video or writing, among other presentations. Doctors can get continuing education credits for watching the videos.
A four minute expert viewpoint video — described in GSA documents as a way for “key opinion leaders to offer specific commentaries” — costs the government up to $68,916 under the contract.
An “exclusively sponsored” five- to eight-question quiz “to convey key sponsor messages” costs more than $140,000 under the contract for a three-month term.
Several of the online offerings through Medscape feature CMS personnel discussing Obamacare on video.
“The Health Insurance Marketplace: What does it mean for my practice?” features Dr. Eugene Freund, medical officer for the center for consumer information and insurance oversight at CMS.
In the video, Dr. Freund describes the enrollment, coverage changes, state and federal marketplaces and eligibility, but he also includes a hopeful message to doctors about the benefits of Obamacare.
“First, we should expect big changes in access,” Dr. Freund said on the video. “We should expect to see more patients because there will be an increased number of insured Americans.“The one-shop stopping assistance and the financial assistance based on eligibility, including tax credits to offset cost and cost-sharing subsidies, should increase the number of your patients who now have insurance.”
It’s unclear how much the presentation cost taxpayers, but records list varying prices for videos, including $129,219 for an “originally developed video webcast delivered by a single expert.”

Is "Official" Unemployment Number a Fraud, too?

Short answer: Yes.

Can we all now agree that the government's "official" unemployment rate is a fraud?

Credit: CNS

November 12, 2013 - 11:33 AM
By Ali Meyer
(CNSNews.com)  The percentage of American civilians 16 or older who have a job or are actively seeking one dropped to a 35-year low in October, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In September, the labor force participation rate was 63.2 percent, but in October it dropped to 62.8 percent—the lowest it has been since February 1978, when Jimmy Carter was president.
When President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, the labor force participation rate was 65.7 percent. By the beginning of 2013, the start of Obama’s second term, it had dropped to 63.6 percent. Since this January, it has continued to decline, hitting a 35-year low of 62.8 percent in October.
....
When someone drops out of the labor force and ceases to actively seek a job, they are no longer counted as “unemployed.” The BLS counts as “unemployed” only those who have actively sought a job in the last four weeks. The unemployment rate is the percentage of people in the labor force who did not have a job in the last four weeks but were actively seeking one.
.....
The number of Americans not in the labor force has climbed by 11,034,000 since Obama took office, rising from 80,507,000 in January 2009 to 91,541,000 in October.
Despite the 11,034,000 who have dropped out of the labor force since Obama took office, the national unemployment rate has remained at a relatively high level. In January 2009, it was 7.8 percent. Since then, it has never dropped below 7.2 percent, the level it hit this September before rising to 7.3 percent this October. October was the 59th straight month of 7-percent-plus unemployment in the United States.
Can we all now agree that the "Official" unemployment number is nothing but a farce? According to James Pethokoukis at AEI:
We need 8.0 million jobs to get back to the pre-recession unemployment rate, and at the average rate of growth of the last 12 months, that won’t happen for another five years. There are currently roughl6.1 million missing workers, and if these workers were in the labor force looking for work, the unemployment rate would be 10.8 percent instead of 7.3 percent. [emphasis mine]
Do they really expect us not to check on such things?  Where is the MSM on this?  I mean I don't expect Morley Safer to do 20 minute piece on the fraud of the BLS unemployment numbers on 60 Minutes, but a 20-25 seconds paragraph on the evening news would nice...

Healthcare Fraud Begins

And so it begins....

The defrauding of the government is the least of it.

The worst part is that this doesn't even expose the coming wave of stolen identifications that is bound to happen through these navigators.

And you just wait until people find out they are registered Democrats after signing up for Obamacare.

Remember, the REAL purpose of Obamacare was to make everyone a registered and participating Democrat to lock in their power for generations....

What is Obamacare, REALLY?

Here is a great story that makes some very serious claims:

CONTRIBUTION
WHAT IF OBAMACARE WAS NEVER ABOUT OUR HEALTH?
DIANA WEST

Could Obamacare be the biggest voter registration fraud scheme in the history of the world?
This is the bombshell assessment of a pair of conservative activists: Gregg Phillips, founder of Voters Trust, and Catherine Engelbrecht of True the Vote. Both groups are conservative nonprofits focused on election integrity.
What helped Phillips and Engelbrecht draw this conclusion is almost as amazing as the conclusion itself: Left-wing groups and media have for some time been openly discussing Obamacare as a vehicle for so-called Motor Voter registration. Motor Voter is the law that makes voter registration a part of driver’s license applications. In fact, the 1993 law also requires any government office that provides “public assistance” to make voter registration part of the process. Since many applicants applying for coverage in the Obamacare “insurance marketplace” – the infamously malfunctioning healthcare.gov website – will be eligible for Medicaid (public assistance), not “Marketplace coverage,” voter registration by law must be part of the available health insurance package.
Presto – 68 million voters, registered with the help of Obamacare “navigators.” Wanna bet whether these new voters will trend Democrat or Republican?
Of course, “presto” doesn’t literally describe the pace of this massive voter registration project, but just give it time. This is the finding, not of conservatives Phillips and Engelbrecht, but of a report by Demos, a left-wing organization funded by George Soros. The report’s title says it all: “Building a Healthy Democracy: Registering 68 Million People to Vote through Health Benefit Exchanges” (a link to this report provides an error message).
Conservative commentator and former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey has written about this aspect of Obamacare, highlighting similar evidence in the program of a “cynical scheme of enrolling Democratic voters.” Earlier this year, McCaughey noted that the Obamacare law “outsourced” the all-important job of enrolling the uninsured in health plans to community organizations. Why does this matter?
McCaughey explained it this way: “Community activists” – Obamacare “navigators” – “can say and do things that government employees can’t, such as urging people to register as Democrats.” She continued: “There is nothing wrong with encouraging voting. But a government employee (for example, at the DMV) is legally barred from saying you should become a Democrat. A community organizer can say it and will. … The Obama health law transforms community organizations into a fifth estate with steady government funding but without government rules.”
Could registering millions of new Democrats always have been the main goal of Obamacare? Phillips and Engelbrecht absolutely think so. They believe “all of those promises about health care were never meant to be true,” Breitbart reports. Instead, they see the massive new program as a means “to collect personal data and voter registration information and share it with the federal government, which would in turn share it with left-wing groups … to conduct what is essentially a taxpayer-funded Get-Out-The-Vote operation for the Democratic Party.”
If this is so, it certainly would help explain the striking sangfroid of the Obama White House in the midst of the epically hot and sweaty chaos of the disastrous medical program rollout.
So where does “fraud” potentially enter the process? To begin with, the application process includes no mechanism for income verification. An applicant can claim zero income and be automatically enrolled in Medicaid. States are already sorting through thousands of Medicaid applications via Obamacare and, as Breitbart reports, “most of those applications will likely be hastily approved.” After that, a voter registration card is mailed out automatically. In other words, “no human being ever sees the card between the time someone logs onto healthcare.gov to type any information, true or untrue, into the system and when a card is mailed out. At that point, when the card shows up in the mail, whoever receives it just needs to sign it and mail it back to the authorities, and they will have registered to vote without ever being in front of any official person.”
Sounds rife with fraud potential to me.
Phillips notes a big legal loophole. The Obama administration is interpreting an Internet click on the Obamacare website as a visit to a physical government office. “The law is clear,” Phillips said of Motor Voter. “It states that all of this (voter registration) has to happen in an office, face-to-face with an individual.”
Engelbrecht flagged another point. Unlike other Motor Voter provisions, an applicant actually has to opt out of voter registration. The inevitable uptick in voter registrations via community organization “Navigators,” Engelbrecht believes, will allow, as Breitbart puts it, “left-wing organizations to search and target voters using information the federal government collected in a way that has never been seen before.”
Maybe that’s why the community organizer who became president doesn’t seem in any way abashed – not even about having been caught in the colossal lie he repeated, apparently to lure people into supporting his health plan, claiming Americans who wanted to keep their doctors and their insurance plans, could do so. (Even the Washington Post “Fact Checker” column gave him “four Pinnochios” on this count, indicating “Whoppers.”) There is a weird sense of disconnection from the whole fiasco, as if it were no fiasco at all.
Maybe it’s not.

CBS's Random Act of Journalism - Obamacare

The list of problems on the role out of Obamacare is lengthy, too lengthy to list here.  But, one of the worst issues is that the website security issues are a mess.  What happens when thousands, possibly millions of Americans have their identity stolen? Who will pay?  Who will be responsible to get these issues straightened out?

This story only deals with the actual website.  Another point of contact where your identity can get stolen is the healthcare "navigators".  For those of you who don't know what these are, navigators are people who either in person or over the phone take all your information and help you "navigate" the process.  In reality, these are thinly veiled democrats whose main responsibility is to register democrat voters.  Obamacare provided millions of dollars of grants to organizations like Planned Parenthood, ACORN (or whatever they are calling themselves these days), SEIU, etc....  Known felons can apply and receive these jobs as navigators.  These people will gather your Social Security Number, Birth Date, Address, Telephone Number, etc... basically, everything required to steal you identity.

Sharyl Attkisson might be the only true journalist left in the mainstream media.  How she continues to get face time behind enemy lines on the nightly news is beyond me....  My prediction is that if she keeps it up, she'll end up having to seek refuge at FNC.

New HIPAA Review

This is the first page of the "NEW" HIPAA form due to Obamacare from my eye doctor:

I included only page 1 because the rest of the document was rather innocuous.  Clearly, the most disturbing part is section entitled:

"OTHER DISCLOSURES AND USES WE MAY MAKE WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION OR CONSENT"

I've highlighted the reasons that to me are most offensive.  In order of disturbing they are as follows:

 1.     "uses or disclosures for specialized government functions, such as for the protection of the president or high ranking government officials; for lawful national intelligence activities;  for military purposes; for the evaluation and health of the foreign service;"
  • Why would my eye records be subject to uses or disclosures for the protection of the president?
  • What is a high ranking government official (i.e., Congressman, Senator, Cabinet Member,  Assemblymen, Mayor, School Board member?)
  • What exactly is a "lawful national intelligence activity"?
  • Military purposes?  Really, does my having reoccurring chalazion effect the outcome of a war somewhere?
  • Foreign service?  Hmmmm....  Just plain weird addition to the list.  Maube just covering their bases?
2.      "incidental disclosures that are an unavoidable by-product of of permitted uses or disclosures;"
  • This seems overly broad.  Does this mean that if a 'courier' shows up claiming to the from "the government" and this 'courier' takes a peek at my records it's permitted as incidental & unavoidable?
3.      "disclosures to "business associates" and their subcontractors who perform health care operations for us and who commit to respect the privacy of your health information in accordance with HIPAA;"
  • Why is "business associates" in quotes?  Is this supposed to be like "You know "business associates" with a wink & a nod?
  • Subcontractors?  Why isn't it quotes too?
4.      "for audits by Medicare or Medicaid; or for investigation of possible violations of health care laws;"
  • Since I use neither Medicare or Medicaid, why do they need access to my records?
5.      "disclosures for judicial and administrative proceedings, such as in response to subpoenas or orders of courts or administrative agencies;"
  • I guess this means that anyone with a court order can get access to my records without my consent.
  • Does this mean even if I am not involved?
  • I get subpoenas & court orders for judicial proceedings, but what exactly is an administrative proceeding?
  • Can any administrative agency have access to my record?  The IRS?  The local Health Department?  How about the County Board of Commissioners?   Local Board of Elections?
6.  "uses or disclosures for health related research;"
  • Does this mean by colleges?  Can a masters student at a local community college who may be conducting research for the CDC view my records?
7.    "[specify other uses and disclosures affect by state law]"

  • None was specified, but I don't know if this is intended as a catch all for any other reason.  It seems very broad.....

Admittedly, some of this may have already been in place.  I don't have a copy of the old HIPAA form, so I can't say that all of these were added by Obamacare.  Regardless of what administration created them, they seem to allow legal access to my eye records by virtually any person associated with any government agency or their sub-contractors.  This is very BIG BROTHER.

Is this a plan?

Let's think about this issue logically.

#1: Desire for Single Payer Universal Healthcare Plan:

But, how can you get there....?

#2: "You don't want to let a good crisis go to waste....."

So let's review:

                       Single Payer Universal Healthcare
+ "Never want to let a good crisis go to waste"
                       Purposefully Created Crisis?

Or maybe it's easier to think of it like this:

"Never want to let a good crisis go to waste"
                   + Purposefully Created Crisis
                      Single Payer Universal Healthcare

I'm just sayin'....

Really, might it not be helpful to create a crisis?

So what to do about this?  Well, an election is coming up next year in which it is possible to take control of the U.S. Senate and reinforce control of the U.S. House of Representatives.  At that point, they could greatly curtail the further implementation of Obamacare through various procedural & budgetary methods effectively neutering the law until a GOP President can be elected in 2016.

With both houses of the US Legislature and the Presidency the GOP could then undo Obamacare and implement free market based solutions.

The solutions are actually quite simple:

1. Allow selling of health (and all) insurance across state lines.

2. Eliminate the "minimum coverage" requirements imposed by Obamacare allowing people
to pick & choose what coverage they want.  (i.e., 57 year men should not be required to
    cover maternity or fertility insurance.)

3. Reinstitute Health Savings Accounts where you can receive tax deductions for putting
money into HSA's to cover healthcare costs in the future.

  • These should be available for   every person from birth, so parents could fund accounts for healthcare use later in life.
  • Proof of maxing out HSA's would reduce payments for Medicare withholdings.
4.  Means test Medicare.  Those people who have been responsibly setting aside money for
their care should receive less benefits, especially if they've contributed less to Medicare.

  • These last two (#3 & #4) effectively allow people to "opt out" of Medicare.

5. Take away a business tax deduction for healthcare insurance expenses and give that tax
    deduction to the individual.

  • This effectively makes every person a healthcare insurance consumer.  Imagine what would happen to insurance prices when insurance companies  could sell across state lines (increasing consumer choice) to a market that is immediately many times larger (individuals vs companies).
6. Tort reform limiting liability for medical malpractice.
  • This would reduce the malpractice insurance of doctors and therefor their costs which would reduce costs overall.  It is after all called "practicing" medicine for a reason. While there are egregious cases were patients and their families need monetary  compensation, there need to be some realistic caps.
7. Expand Medicaid as a safety net for those in true poverty.

There are, of course, more things that would help.  But, ultimately making the purchase of healthcare insurance and the decision of how much insurance they want to purchase, the responsibility of the individual you are restoring their liberty.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.  - This was used as a motto on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania. (1759); the book was published by Franklin; its author was Richard Jackson.
