Let's see if I have this right....

If understand the financial crisis, even a little, I think it goes something like this:

1) Americans buy a house for $500,000 no money down, interest only from a mortgage broker.
2) Said broker bundles a bunch of these mortgages together and sells them as a security to a brokerage house.
3) Said brokerage house, bundles these securities together as a collateralized mortgage obligation - CMO (3 classes based on risk) to other brokerages, namely in Iceland and EU countries.
4)These are supposedly "insured", but cash reserves at "insurers" like AIG have no regulation, so there really is no insurance.
5)American's continue this cycle as home values raise, using equity to buy speculative property and finance lifestyles they cannot afford.
6)The credit Americans are using is used to purchase more an more products manufactured in China (the Wal-Mart Effect: Save money. Live better).
7) China is flush with cash and is buying US Treasury bonds allowing our government to save money and live better, too.
8) Suddenly, people 4% of American homeowners cannot pay their mortgages. This begins the collapse of the house of cards. Bad mortgages, not enough cash reserves for the CMO insurance.
(I'll admit, I'm getting pretty fuzzy on my knowledge right in here...)
9) Iceland's economy, many of the EU economies, Russia's and not China's economy begin to weaken.
10) Because China was behind the curve, they still have a lot of cash and now they are coming to the U.S. to buy up undervalued real estate.

Really...? Technically, they are using our money to buy (at fire sale prices I might add) real estate in the U.S. because their economy is "uncertain." Does this seem like a comedy sketch or what?

Obama in talks with Iran & Syria. That's nice...

From the article: Nuclear non-proliferation experts had several "very, very high-level" contacts in the last few months with Iranian leaders, said Jeffrey Boutwell, executive director for the US branch of the Pugwash group, an international organization of scientists which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995.

Wasn't that directly against policy of the Bush administration? Why isn't this treason?

Also from the article: The Syrian president himself revealed on Monday that "dialogue started some weeks ago in a serious manner through personalities who are close to the administration and who were dispatched by the administration."

How long before BHO send Jimmy Carter as special envoy to Hamas?

So, tell me again why all you Jews are democrats?

Newt tells it like it is...

Newt has the ability to tell it like it is... I wish he did more of it. I still think global warming is a hoax and he should not have participated in those awful commercials with San Fran Nan condoning global warming, but he nails this one on the head. Thanks to Phil for pointing this out...

So you want to know were your money is going...?

Here is a link to the summary of the nearly $1,000,000,000,000 "stimulus bill".

$6,900,000,000 for local government energy efficiency block grants. (Maybe ACORN will handle the local distribution of the funds)

It's quite a potpourri of spending. It all sounds good on paper, though I'd say the government should not be involved in most of this stuff.

For example, "energy efficient home retro fits" $2,500,000,000. That's a lot of new windows & caulk. Of course, it's being administered by HUD. We all know there's no corruption in HUD. Anyway, isn't that the same as the first one?

$6,200,000,000 for home weatherization. Isn't that the same as...? Oh never mind!

$3,000,000,000 for National Science Foundation. Look what they do with the money. I guess, now congress can say they have already "given at the office" to these guys.

$1,000,000,000 for light rail. Is there a single light rail system in the country that pays for itself?

$1,100,000,000 for Amtrak. Need I say more?

$3,100,000,000 for improvements on federal land. Umm... The government is in debt. Maybe, they should sell some of that land or privatize the management of said land.

And, now for the largest benefactors of them all.... Education! $20,000,000,000 for 21st century class rooms. Ok, then why am I paying property taxes? I thought that's what paid for new schools. I didn't realize the federal government was in the school building business.

More money for higher education. I guess this means colleges get to raise their tuition again. I mean, why not, the fed's got it covered?

Child care development block grants (ACORN) get $2,000,000,000 to babysit about 300,000 kids (yes, that is $6,666 per kid) so their 'low income' parents can go to work. Let's see, put 20 kids together in a room one can make $133,333 a year per room.... Put a few classroom together and pretty soon you're talking real money! Oh, it gets better!

$2,100,000,000 for Head start. When I was a kid, it was called German-kindergarten and was held at our church by parents.... I guess now that's worth about $9,000 per.

$20,000,000,000 to "jump start" the computerization of medical records.

There is so much more, but I'm getting dizzy. I need to rest. I'll have to look through the "stimulus" package again to see if I can get reimbursed for resting.

And this is the "Exective Summary". I'm sure the real wasteful spending is buried deep in the actual bill....

BTW-Where is the additional money to bailout the banks? Is that going to cost EXTRA!?!?

Is the world going crazy, or what?

More banks failing... But, not to worry. We have some fine leadership. The Secretary of State is married to an extortionist. The Treasury Secretary is a tax cheat. The Secretary of Health & Human Services is BIGGER tax cheat (oh, and he's earned about $220,000 from the companyies he's set to regulate).

But not to worry, at least we are as bad as Russia. They are having riots due to their economy. Are we so apathetic that we won't even call our legislators, much less riot?

But, not to worry. Soon we'll never hear about it. Yeah, glasnost.

Of course, we haven't over thrown our government. Iceland gets a new Prime Minister following banking crisis. Yet.

Even Britain is having their issues with worker unrest in the UK.

Of course, we are getting ready for our own strikes. Oil workers preparing to strike in the US.

Maybe we need to listen to Australia's PM. More talk of a "new world order".

When and how will it all come to a head? Is Barack Hussein Obama prepared for this stuff?

Loan Modification vs Foreclosure

Here is a reasonable look at the financial crisis at ground level.

I've been saying the same thing as it relates to the banks and auto companies. Let them fail. The result will be painful, very painful - for the short term. But for the long term the fittest companies will survive. Once we've shed the junk, restructured the rest we can move forward, much sooner.

NBC is at it again....

Here is a commercial banned by NBC that was to be played during the Super Bowl:

The video was too pro-life....

What Happened to the "Hope" in "Hope & Change?"

President Obama said Friday the deepening recession is a "continuing disaster"....

Buried in the article: "For all of 2008, the economy grew by just 1.3 percent." (emphasis mine)

I thought that a gain is a good thing!

At the end of the article: "The savings rate rose to 2.9 percent in the fourth quarter."

Again, for years we were told we did not save enough. Now, apparently, saving is a bad thing. While the lefties think we are probably doing it purpose, just to spite the new president. I think (and I've talked to A LOT of people) most people are hoarding their cash because they don't know what is coming next from this administration. They hear all the doom & gloom and even if they have not already lost their job now, they believe they soon will, so they have to save to prepare for what is coming.

I just spent a couple days at a trade show and I can tell you in talking to manufacturer's in the crowd, everyone is frozen in fear; them and their customers. No one wants to spend any money, because they know their taxes are going to increase, they know regulations are going to get more restrictive and that labor costs will start to increase.

Could Obama be doing this on purpose? Does he want there to be a crisis, so his HUGE government solutions will be passed even more easily? What do you think?

Individualism vs. Socialism

As the RNC votes for its next Chair, I have to wonder if we will get a leader who thinks like an individualist or a socialist.

I cut the following from a recent e-mail I sent in response to how conservatives should respond to the new far-left and how we should choose our leaders:

First, let be clear. You should all know my perspective. I do not come at this as a moderate. To be fair, that ship has sailed. Every time Republicans nominate a “moderate” (i.e., Bush 41, Dole, McCain) they lose. While Bush 43 was by no means a fiscal conservative, he was a conservative on social and security issues, with the result being that he at least won. I regret he did not once make an attempt to reign in government spending, but again, that is water under the bridge at this point.

The best argument for conservatism is to ask people to analyze how they live their own lives. By wide margins, regardless of people’s race, color, or creed Americans live their lives as conservatives. 90% are NOT gay. 90+% are NOT atheists. 96% are NOT behind on mortgage payments. Do you see what I mean? Even most people who say they are liberals, live their lives as conservatives. They just don’t realize it.

We MUST not break people into “groups” and try to codify them. We must speak to people’s innate desire for the idea of rugged American individualism, for that is what has made the USA great for so long. The government did not invent any of the greatest inventions of the past (and they will NOT create an alternative fuel to replace oil) individual Americans (or relatively small groups) created them. It is those ideals that get to people’s core beliefs.

While it may have become habit for people to look to the government for solutions, they all know in their heart of hearts it is not the American dream to have government involved in every aspect of their lives. It is to this core belief that conservatives (nor necessarily Republican or Democrats) must begin to appeal.

Let the leftists try to buy their votes with programs for everyone of their “groups”. We need to appeal to something larger; the idea of Americans as rugged individualists.

Rush is Right...

As usual, Rush is looking at facts and, as usual, he is right. Cutting taxes would stimulate the economy far faster and deeper than BHO's "stimulus".

Not much to add here....

Stimulas, Shimulas

Obama's win may be hollow, but it is an unfortunate loss for our country....

Liberals get to put every trimming of the last 40 years on their tree...

How they voted.... Not even the all the Democrats could swallow this hog.....

Customer Service at its best....

"We're losing customer's. Quick! Let's lower customer service!" ONLY the government could think of such a thing. Why not privatize it? UPS/FedEx/DHL has to be able to deliver mail better, cheaper. Eliminate the unions, get rid of the deadwood and watch the customer service improve and costs go down.

Where to Begin....

So the first story this morning is this: Obama's First Televised Interview with Arabic Network, in which he says, among other things, "that the Americans are not your enemy."

Fair enough. We are not their enemy. Buried in the article it explains how BHO is sending his new envoy to the region, former Sen. George J. Mitchell for a visit to Egypt on Tuesday then on to Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

But wait a minute.... Later, I stumble across this article, Mitchell’s Firm Worked for Dubai Ruler in Jockey Case where it describes the venerable George Mitchell as the "chairman of a law firm that was paid about $8 million representing Dubai’s ruler in connection with a child-trafficking lawsuit."

More interesting headlines: Clinton says world "exhaling" with Obama at top. That may be so, but Bill on the other hand is wondering what is going to happen to his income... Bill Clinton made millions from foreign sources

They're all Democrats, so they are above reproach. There can be no conflicts of interest, no quid pro quo, no bias.... I mean, if these people were Republican, they would be treated the same way, right?

Can Republicans be waking up?

Wow. I wonder where these Republicans have been for the past 6 election cycles as ACORN has gained strength. I don't know if the Democrats have awakened a sleeping giant, but it's nice to dream...

"The First Snub", but likely not the last...

What more can I say? The 'Chosen One' refused to attend The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball , a ball sponsored by the American Legion and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Craig Roberts, the American Legion's media relations manager, who confirmed that President Obama did not attend the ball, but sent Vice President Biden instead.

The Person Who Can Stop Socialism

To me the person who can single handedly smooth the path to socialism in John McCain. He is, unfortunately, the de facto leader of the Republican Party. The Republican Party is currently our only hope to slow socialism down. John McCain is trying to ensure his legacy as a bipartisan problem solver and coalition builder.

He might be able to be swayed by public opinion, as was the case with immigration, if one is to believe that his mind was changed because of the groundswell of opposition to his proposed immigration bill – not for politically expedient reasons.

If we could get him to change his mind on the key issues and fight back against the policies of this administration he might get enough mainstream media coverage to have an affect on the greater public opinion.

What do you think? If not John Sidney McCain, then who currently in D.C. can do it?

How to Create Jobs Without Them All Going to Skilled Professionals and White Male Construction Workers

What can I say... Robert Reich's blog reintterates what he said at a hearing on capital hill a few weeks ago. (See video here)

So which is the party of class warfare...?

What party is it that views people as groups...?

When will people wake up and realize what they just voted for...?

History is made...

I, as a Christian, believe God has chosen Barack Hussein Obama (BHO) to lead this nation at this point in history and, as such, I believe I am to submit to his authority. BHO is my president, just as he is the president of all Americans.

I would like to offer my prayer for this president:
Dear Lord,
Only through your Providence has our great nation been allowed to exist. You have been our protector and showed untold grace and mercy on us, even as we turn from you. Now, you have chosen our new leader. We ask that you protect him and his family. Provide him with the wisdom of Solomon, the courage of David, and the humility of Jesus. Provide for him wise counsel. Instill in his heart the burden of protecting the citizens of the United States of America. Allow him the ability to bridge the remaining racial divide and stir a renewed sense of personal responsibility in all Americans. Amen

Finally, many of us are political conservatives. Therefore, it is also my belief that I am called to support my views which are largely at odds with BHO's stated policies. So I will keep trying to prevent his policies, while at the same time praying for our nation to be healed by BHO’s presidency.

Post election / Pre inaguration Comments

Post Election
Well, the election is over. For you libs who think Sara did us in, allow me to set the record straight. The candidate the MSM picked for us, John Sidney McCain, was our problem, not Sara. She'll be back! You'll still hate her and we'll still see us in her, which is why we liked her to begin with.

Pre-inauguration Comments
AP-Obama (and the rest of the MSM) continues to insult the intelligence of most of us in fly over country. His nominees look like they were picked by Lorne Michaels for their comedic appeal than for substance. Let us review:

SOS: Hillary Clinton. 1) This time last year she was trying to frighten the American public by running ads saying BHO wasn't experienced enough to answer the phone at 3:00 am. Now she is going to be implementing his foreign policy. otay. 2) Her husband, remember him? Slick Willy has earned $100+ MILLION largely from foreign donations (largely from UAE, Yemen, SA, China), but she will be an "impartial" proponent of US foreign policy. Just pay your $2,000,000 at the door and Bill will use a black marker to put an "X" on your hand and tell you the magic words.

AG: Eric Holder. Helped Marc Rich (former FBI most wanted and fugitive from justice - see here) gain a pardon in the waning days of the Clintonian admin (maybe this should be in Hillary's too). Of course, there was no connection between his huge donation to the Clinton Presidential Museum & Massage Parlor.... Noooo... Now Eric says that mistake will make him a (get this) BETTER AG! I guess two wrong might make right....

Treasurer Chairman: Timothy Geithner, who if confirmed, would oversee the IRS, "forgot" to pay taxes for 6 years on income earned as a contractor. Oh, the best part... HE did his own taxes. Yeah, this is the ONLY guy in Washington who can save the financial system and he can't even do his own taxes! SNL should have fun with this... Oh, wait... No this isn't a Republican admin, so no joking about these folks!

CIA: Leon Panetta. "My position has consistently been that I believe the Agency is best-served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time." said Senator Feinstein, who will chair the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in the 111th Congress. Apparently, unless the messiah picks an inside the beltway bureaucrat like LP, who is most famous for being a Clinton lapdog. Let's see, he's against torture of any kind (that ought to go over big in the CIA) and he a budget hawk in an agency that has an endless budget. Yeah, this'll work.

Commerce: New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson - withdrawn for a player to be named later. It seems crazy he was made to withdraw, given all the other choices (see above). I mean, what's a little selling government contracts for campaign contributions? In DC that is called being a "man of the people" - the ones who can pay, that is...

DHS: Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. She is qualified to run the newly formed DHS because she was the Governor of a border state and US AG for said border state. Oh, and there has to be one gay person in a high ranking office, cause the messiah said so... (and BHO has to satisfy the GLBT community in order to win next time, even if it does put the US in inexperienced hands).

HHS Sec: Tom Daschle. Need I say more? This guy was a joke as a legislator, I can't wait to see him answering the questions now...

Transportation Sec: Ray LaHood has close ties to a power-broker indicted in the pay-to-play scandal that also led to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's recent arrest.

Need I go on...? I haven't even talked about all the sub-cabinet "Czars" he's appointed, many of which have opposing views of the cabinet heads they report to. This is gonna be fun to watch, but expensive to us tax payers (those of us who do still pay taxes).

Should have been the next VP:Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin

How great it this?!?!? Its now been a couple weeks since we were first introduced to Gov. Sarah Palin. Every time I learn something new I like her more. The wacko-left has been attacking and with each ostensibly "new revelation" comes a a silver lining. I'd list them all here, but there is simply not enough time or room. The one thing the left keeps falling back on is her experience. She has not foreign policy experience. Here's some new for the MSM: None of the candidates have any foreign policy experience. Unless you were once the Secretary of State or Defense, I don't know how you would have FP experience. Name one president in the last 50 years who has has FP experience upon taking office.
Having said that I want you to look at the attached pictures and put yourself in Putins shoes....
Who do you think is more credible?
Joe "Plugs" Biden or Sarah "Barracuda" Palin?
Yeah, but what about Barack Hussien Obama? He is a "great leader", right?
Yeah, a real macho man...
So she's a Harley girl and Obama a....
Well...
